The pride and joy of South Africa, Kruger Park is one of the most magical and fascinating places to visit in the world. Its vast landscapes and incredible African wildlife are second to none. You can spend your days looking out for the Big Five on the most spectacular safaris and spend your evenings cosied up around a roaring fire, enjoying some of the fresh local South African cuisine and wine. If there’s any place on earth a long drive is worth it, it’s here!
To cover the vast 392 km distance from Johannesburg Airport to Kruger National Park, you can either take a local taxi, book a private transfer or rent a car. The journey time by road will be around 5 hours and you can expect a local Johannesburg taxi to cost around €500 (ZAR 8,000).
It is possible to take a bus transfer from Johannesburg Airport to Kruger Park, however, you will need to make 3 different bus changes and will still have to pay for a private transfer into Kruger Park. Travelling by bus will take at least 10 hours and the bus stops are very unsafe, so this transfer option isn’t recommended.
Welcome Pickups offers meet and greet services and a friendly introduction to Johannesburg at the same price as a regular taxi. Click here to see the cost.
