Getting from Toulouse Airport to the City Centre

Toulouse Blagnac Airport (TLS) in Toulouse, France, is located conveniently close to the city and provides several transport options to help you reach your destination.

The quickest and only direct way to travel is by airport taxi or private transfer. Despite being the most expensive option, a taxi or transfer is still relatively affordable, especially in a group scenario, and the journey takes just 20 minutes in light traffic.

Alternatively, the shuttle bus service is a luxury public transport service that offers a fairly direct service to Matabiau train station in as little as 25 minutes, excluding wait times.

By far the cheapest, but also the most complicated option, is to take a combined bus, tram and metro journey which gets you to the Jean-Jaurès Station – a 10-minute walk from the Capitole area – in around 50 minutes, not including wait and transfer times.

*The tram from Toulouse Airport to the city centre is no longer running but there are plans to link a new tramline to the airport in the future.

You have two ways to go about it, although they each take roughly the same amount of time. Bus lines 30 and 31 depart from the same spot as the express shuttle service, on the Ground Floor outside the Arrivals Terminal near Gate C2. When you reach the tram station, take the T1 line towards Palais de Justice and at Arenes Station take Metro Line A towards Balma-Gramont.

Convenience

The bus, tram and metro option should only be considered if you’re on a very tight budget. Given that it takes at least twice as long as any other option and requires two or more transfers, there is more room for error and getting lost and confused. Not to mention if you have luggage and have to squeeze on board during peak hours.

For a more streamlined and relaxing journey, consider booking a private transfer in advance so that you simply turn up and be on your way.

Editor’s Note

If you have lots of luggage, taking three different modes of transport might be quite stressful.

Useful Tips

A single-journey ticket is valid for 90 minutes on 4 different lines across the bus, tram, metro and train network.
