How to get from Buenos Aires Airport to the City

Taking a shuttle bus from Ezeiza Airport to Buenos Aires is a convenient alternative to taking a taxi or a private transfer. It’s slower but cheaper so it’s a good option if you want to spend less on transportation.

The Tienda Leon shuttle bus will take you to Madero Terminal on the east side of the city center near the Hilton Hotel in about 50 minutes. From there, you can continue on foot, by taxi or Tienda Leon minivan or remis (private taxis) to reach your hotel or apartment door.

A ticket for the shuttle bus from Buenos Aires Airport to the city center costs €10.50 (USD 11.70/ARS 11,000) per passenger.

You can purchase your ticket at the Ticket Office inside the Terminal or the one next to the bus stop and via the company’s official website.

The shuttle bus from Eze Airport to Buenos Aires is the best value-for-money transportation option, combining the comfort and amenities of a modern bus but keeping the cost lower than other options. However, service isn’t available 24 hours and buses can get crowded during peak hours so you may have to wait for the next bus, resulting in long waiting times. You’ll also have to walk or get a taxi to your final destination after disembarking the bus.

The last transportation option from Buenos Aires Airport to downtown is the local bus that connects the airport to the city. Urban buses are called ‘collectivos’ and they’re the cheapest option to move around Buenos Aires. Urban Bus Line 8 departs from Ezeiza Airport and makes several stops in the city center, including Plaza del Congreso and Plaza de Mayo. From there, you can continue on foot or by another bus to reach your destination.

The fare for urban buses is calculated based on distance traveled. The fare for Bus Line 8 from Ezeiza Airport to Buenos Aires costs around €0.50 (USD 0.55/ARS 508,83).

Keep in mind that to use public transport in Buenos Aires you need to purchase a SUBE card. It has an initial fee of €0.80 (USD 0.90/ARS 880) and you can purchase it at Open 25 hs Drugstores or the Tourist Desks at EZE Airport. You can then load the card using the Carga SUBE app or the automatic machines at the airport and on the bus only in cash.

After getting on the bus, you must tell the driver your destination so they can calculate your fare, which will be displayed on the screen. You can then tap your card on the reader and it will deduct the fare.

Getting from Buenos Aires Airport to the city by bus is only a good option if you’re traveling on a very tight budget. The travel duration is very long compared to other modes of transport and buses can be quite crowded during peak hours. If you’re traveling with large or multiple luggage it’s best to choose another way to leave the airport.
