Mecca, the holiest city in Islam is the birthplace of Prophet Muhammad. It’s the final destination of the annual Hajj pilgrimage, and as such, only Muslims are permitted to enter. One of Mecca’s most prominent structures is the Kaaba, a cubic structure and the most sacred shrine for all Muslims.
There are three different ways to get to the holy city from Jeddah airport; taxi, bus or train. Taking a Jeddah airport taxi from Jeddah airport to Meca will take just 1 hour and 30 minutes and will cost an average of €100 (SAR 400). Taking the SAPTCO bus is the cheapest transfer option, with a cost of €20 (SAR 91.20) one-way and a journey time of 2 hours. The quickest transfer option is to take the high-speed train, which takes 60 minutes to reach Mecca and costs around €22 (SAR 90) per ticket.
Welcome Pickups offers meet and greet services and a friendly introduction to Jeddah at the same price as a regular taxi. Click here to see the cost.
