Transfer Options from Malaga Airport to City

Malaga Costa del Sol Airport provides three transfer options to get you from the airport into the city centre of Malaga. Taxi, train and bus. All options are available directly outside terminal 3, and provide a reasonably quick transfer to the city. The most efficient option is hiring a Malaga airport taxi, which will cost approximately 28€ and will take 15 minutes. The train is a quick option, taking only 12 minutes and costing 1.80€. Finally, there is the option of a bus, which costs 3€ and takes around 20 minutes to reach the centre.

How to get from Malaga Airport to the city centre by taxi

Malaga airport taxis are located outside of the the airport’s terminal 3 at a designated rank. They are situated right in front of the terminal and therefore are hard to miss. Taxis provide multiple amounts of seats available – though it is not always guaranteed that these will be available. Taxis taken from the rank should all have meters and licences displayed.

The cost of the taxi from Malaga airport is metered, so there will be a difference in rate depending on what time and day you take the taxi. As a general rule, the taxis will have a starting rate from the pick up from the airport of 5.50€, and the journey will likely cost around 20€ to the city all up.

Night-time rates for airport transits are in effect from 10:00pm-6:00am everyday, as well as on weekends and holidays – around 22€

Taxis are the most comfortable means of transport to the city, especially when the weather is warm with air-conditioning and shorter waiting times than public transport. They provide a door-to-door service and is the best option when you have a lot of luggage to take with you.

If you are travelling in large groups, in a big flight or have a lot of luggage, it is advisable to pre-book a transfer from the airport. Although the taxis are organised, special situations cannot always be catered to and queuing in the heat can be bothersome.

How to get from Malaga Airport to the city centre by bus

The bus station at Malaga airport is conveniently located outside the departures and provides a dedicated line from the airport to city. The line is named the Linea Express A and will take you into the centre with ten convenient stops along the route. The bus will take between 15-25 minutes to reach the centre, traffic dependent. The bus leaves every 30 minutes and operates between 7am and midnight.

Malaga airport provides a fairly new train that is a quick and easy way to reach the city centre. The train is the Line C1 from airport to city, and takes about 12 minutes to reach the centre, stopping at other good locations on it’s route. The train departs every 20 minutes between 6:30am and 12:30am daily.

The ticket machines in terminal 3 are available in English and there are staff there to assist.
When you alight the train, getting off at the last station (Centro-Alameda) is less busy and more central.
Trains also go intercity from the airport, so make sure you ask the staff if you are confused about which train to catch.
