Getting from Faro Airport to the City Centre

As the main airport of the Algarve region in southern Portugal, Faro Airport handles a great number of daily flights, especially during the summer period. The airport is located 6.5 km southwest of Faro City and you have three transportation options to get from Faro Airport to the city; taxi, private transfer and bus.

How to get from Faro Airport to the city centre by taxi

Taxis in Faro are very reliable and have very few accounts of tourist scams, especially compared to other European cities. Similar to the rest of the country, taxis at Faro Airport are black with a light green/teal roof and a classic rooftop sign.

Due to the short distance between the airport and the city, trips take around 10-15 minutes at most, even during rush hour, with prices around €15-20.

There is currently only one public transportation option From Faro Airport to the centre of Faro; Bus 16. Proximo Line 16 offers regular, direct bus trips from 05:20 until 00:10, making 13 stops along the route, via the city’s main train station.

The bus trip takes around 20 minutes to reach the city centre and a one-way ticket costs just €2.25.
