As soon as you land at Samos International Airport (SMI), you will have two available options so as to reach Samos town; Taxi and Bus. A Samos airport taxi is the fastest and easiest transportation type. The total ride takes about 20-30 minutes and as Samos taxis are metered, the estimated cost of the journey is 25-30€. Conversely, the town buses reach the town centre, via Pithagoreion or Mitilinioi, in 25-30 minutes while their ticket price is 2€. However, the bus routes are not sufficient. Especially on weekends, they are almost non-existent.

How to get from Samos airport to Town of Samos by bus
Samos KTEL local buses are the alternative option in order to reach Samos town after landing to Samos airport. The public transportation means is fairly cheaper (only 2€ for a one-way ticket) and can transfer you to Samos Central Bus Station in about 25-30 minutes. However, bus routes are not frequent enough on daily basis and especially on weekends.
How much is the bus from Samos airport to Samos Town?
The KTEL local bus ticket price is 2€ per person while children up to 6 years old don't have to pay. Tickets can be bought from the driver as soon as you enter the bus. It is always advisable to have small change with you.

Where do I get it from?
The KTEL local bus stop is situated just outside the arrivals hall of the airport. Therefore, you can very easily spot it as soon as you exit the terminal building.
The bus may be a very affordable choice but it is definitely not a comfortable one. The KTEL local buses itineraries from the airport to Samos town are inadequate. In fact, there are only 8 transit bus routes per day to Samos, via Pythagoreion or Mitilinioi, from early in the morning until late in the afternoon, while on Saturdays, the number of buses is reduced to only 3 and on Sundays, they don't operate at all. Moreover, the travel time may be almost the same with that of a private transfer, as your drop-off point is the Central Bus Station in Samos, so you will have to reach your exact destination on foot.
Taking the bus is the ideal option if you are looking for a low cost transportation way. The bus route from the airport to Samos centre is only about 5-10 minutes longer than a taxi ride whereas the bus ticket costs only 2€. Thus, it is a considerable alternative if you are travelling on a budget and you don't mind sacrificing your comfort.

Samos airport operates from 06:00 am to 22:00 pm. Therefore, Samos airport taxis, though theoretically available 24/7, are in fact handy only when the airport is active. However, the grey vehicles with the "taxi" sign on their top, are still the most convenient mean of transportation, as they will drive you to the front door of your hotel at about 20-30 minutes, depending on the traffic, whereas the waiting time at the taxi rank will be limited. Lastly, they don't have fixed fares but you can expect that you will be charged about 25-30€ for your trip from Samos International Airport (SMI) to Samos town.
