The quickest and easiest way to travel from Domodedovo Airport to Sheremetyevo Airport is to use a taxi. As a taxi is the quickest way to travel from Sheremetyevo to Domodedovo and vice versa, this would be the most convenient option. There are quite a few unofficial or ‘pirate’ taxis that operate between Domodedovo and Sheremetyevo. If anyone approaches you at the airport offering a taxi, avoid them, as unlicensed taxi drivers tend to overcharge tourists. Always book from one of the designated desks.

Head down to the Moscow Metro at Paveletskaya to catch a subway train to Belorusskaya. From there, the Aeroexpress train will take you from Belorussky to Sheremetyevo. The total journey should take around 2 hours, excluding wait times.

The Aeroexpress train from Domodedovo to Pavaletsky runs every 30 minutes between 06:00am-23:30pm. The Moscow Metro subway train to Belorusskaya runs every 10 minutes between 05:43am-01:34am. The Aeroexpress train to Sheremetyevo runs every 30 minutes between 05:35am-23:35pm.

Where do I get it from?

Look out for signs for the Aeroexpress Terminal at Domodedovo, as the first train you need leaves from there. When you enter Paveletskaya Metro, look for signs for the green Zamoskvoretskaya line and head down to the platform. At the exit from the Belorusskaya metro station, turn right, then turn the corner and enter the first door of Entrance 4 to the Belorussky Rail Terminal. You should see signs for the Aeroexpress Terminal.

Convenience

Although the train won’t be as comfortable or as quick as a taxi, it is by far the most affordable Sheremetyevo Domodedovo transfer option. If you’re on a budget, this might be the option for you. However, it can be pretty inconvenient, especially if you have luggage, as there are quite a few changes and no shortage of steps at the stations.

Don’t worry about a language barrier when travelling by train. All of the ticket machines have an English-speaking interface. There are also floor signs indicating the direction of transfers and exits in English and the ‘next stop’ announcement is normally spoken in Russian and English.

Useful Tips

It can get very busy on the Moscow Metro between 08:00am-09:30am and 17:30pm-19:00pm. If you plan to travel on the subway during these hours, be ready for overcrowding and keep an eye out for pickpockets.
When you purchase a ticket for the Aeroexpress train, seats are not assigned, so feel free to grab any seat in the Standard carriages.
