Taking a taxi from Pune Airport to the city is the quickest and most convenient option available to you. Taxis are available 24/7 and provide a comfortable transfer straight to the door of your hotel. The journey takes just 15 minutes and you’ll pay no more than €4 (INR 350) for the trip.

Local Pune taxis follow a taximeter system that is regulated by the government, which means your fare will depend on the length of the journey, the time of day and the day of the week. There’s also a 25% surcharge for rides between 00:00 and 05:00 and taxis with air conditioning will cost an extra 10%.

Where do I get the taxi from?

The taxi rank at Pune Airport is located just outside of the arrivals area. You’ll see taxis queuing up as you exit the terminal.

If you want to take a prepaid taxi, you’ll find the prepaid ticket counters just before you exit the terminal.

How to get from Pune Airport to the city by bus

The only mode of public transport from Pune Airport to the city is the bus. It’s a convenient, budget-friendly option as it’s direct and tickets cost approximately €1.25 (INR 110).

PMPML operates city buses in Pune, and they offer frequent services that stop just outside the airport at the stop “Airport Corner/Kendriya Vidyalaya” and travel to the city centre. Bus lines 102, 131, 158 and 24 depart every 30 minutes or so and stop at various points throughout the city, depending on the line. The main stops in the centre are Yerwada (15 minutes) and Jahangir Hospital (20 minutes). 

*PMPML will re-launch their “ABHI special airport buses” in 2024, departing straight from inside the airport, lines A-3 to Swargate (via city centre) and A-4 to Kothrud Stand (via city centre) will both get you to the city centre in around 15 minutes.

Where can I catch the bus from?

The bus stop for PMPML services is located a 5-minute walk from the airport. Just exit the terminal and the airport complex and walk down New Airport Road towards the Airport Chowk roundabout. Take the first exit to your left and you’ll see theAirport Corner/Kendriya Vidyalaya” bus stop ahead.

Once the special airport buses are back in action, you’ll be able to catch these services from inside the airport complex, just outside arrivals.

The bus system in Pune is a cheap way to travel into the city, however, the services can be unreliable, are often late and some drivers have a reputation for not driving safely. For those of you looking for the most cost-effective choice and don’t mind using public transport, this is your best bet. However, if you’re travelling with lots of luggage or numerous people, or would just prefer a little more security, it may be better to hop in a taxi or pre-book a private transfer.

You can also catch one of the regular buses to the city centre from Lohegaon Road bus stop, but this is more than 15 minutes walk away. You can check Google Maps for more information.
