Aguas Calientes is a town in the Machu Picchu district of southern Peru. Characterised by its thermal baths and lush valley ambiance, Agua Calientes is known as the gateway town to the famous Incan ruins. Buses to Machu Picchu depart every 10 minutes from the town’s bus station.
If you want to travel from Cusco Airport to Aguas Calientes, you have two options: taxi or public transport. Taking a taxi is the most straightforward and popular method. It takes roughly 4 hours to complete the journey and costs around €150 (PEN 600). Alternatively, you can take public transport. With a combination of buses and trains, you would reach Aguas Calientes after travelling for around 6 hours. You can expect the combined cost to be €75 (PEN 361) per person.
