Fort Sill is a very large US military base that originates from 1869 and is located just north of the town of Lawton in Oklahoma. It is 85 miles (137 km) away from Oklahoma City airport, which is the main airport that serves the area. Fort Sill has been designated a National Historic Landmark due to the importance the Fort has played in America’s history and its role in numerous military campaigns.
Due to its location, Fort Sill is not very well connected and there is limited public transportation available. More specifically, there is a Greyhound bus offering one route a day from the centre of Oklahoma City to Lawton which is near the Fort. However, the bus neither leaves from the airport nor travels directly to Fort Sill, therefore passengers will still need to make arrangements to first get to downtown Oklahoma and then take a taxi from Lawton to the Fort.
A direct option for your transportation from Oklahoma City airport to Fort Sill involves an airport shuttle bus service (Soldier Xpress) which doesn’t, however, have a regular timetable and only runs when needed, so interested passengers have to contact the company directly for more details. An Oklahoma City airport taxi or private shuttle service is therefore the only reliable, convenient and direct transport option from OKC Airport to Fort Sill.
Welcome Pickups offers meet and greet services and a friendly introduction to Oklahoma City at the same price as a regular taxi. Click here to see the cost.
