Getting from Phuket Airport to Patong

Patong is located on the west coast of Phuket Island, facing the Andaman Sea in the southwest of Thailand. Official taxis at Phuket Airport are usually yellow and red and can be found in ranks just outside of the terminal.  Taking a Phuket Airport taxi is definitely the fastest and most comfortable option. Taking a taxi to Patong from Phuket Airport is by far the simplest and most comfortable travel method. However, most taxi vehicles are small city cars and it can be challenging to comfortably fit three passengers with their luggage in the vehicle at the same time.

For a stress-free travel experience, it is recommended to book a private taxi company in advance, as they offer set prices and larger family-sized cars.

For those looking for a more budget-friendly option, Phuket Airport provides a bus network to Rawai Beach via Patong. The Phuket Smart Bus is blue and white and departs every hour on the hour from outside the airport terminal.

If you wish to take this travel method, the trip from Phuket Airport to Patong takes around 1 hour and 30 minutes and costs €2.55 (THB 100).

Where do I get it from?

The bus terminal is located just outside of the Domestic Terminal Gate 1-3 at the Airport. The bus terminal should be easy to find as there is signage placed around the airport, or you can ask the airport staff for directions.


Unfortunately, the bus network from the airport has many stops on its way to the centre of Patong; this makes the journey quite long, which isn’t ideal after a long flight. Moreover, luggage space can be limited depending on how full the bus gets. If you’re travelling with luggage or as a group, it may be wiser to hop in a taxi or private transfer.
