It isn’t possible to travel directly from Brno Airport to Prague by train, but you can take a 20-minute bus to the Brno main train station, where you can connect with trains to Prague.

There are direct connections between Brno Main Train Station and Prague Main Train Station, run by ZSSK (the Slovak rail network) and RegioJet which take between 152 and 214 minutes, depending on how many stops there are along the way. Using the public bus and train combination, it’ll take around 170 minutes in total to reach Prague, excluding wait times.

If you prefer to travel directly to your destination and to know that all of your group will be able to travel safely together, we recommend booking a private transfer in advance.

How much does the train cost?

The bus from the airport to Brno Main Train Station costs just €1 (CZK 25) per traveller and tickets can be purchased at the airport or onboard using a credit/debit card or cash.

For ZSSK services, it is recommended that you purchase your train tickets online in advance, however, they can also be bought upon arrival at the station. A standard ticket starts at around €26.8 (CZK 662) and you can choose to upgrade to first class for an additional fee.

Travelling by bus between Brno Airport and Prague is an affordable way to travel with buses running fairly consistently throughout the day. There isn’t a direct bus, so you’ll first need to travel from the airport to Brno Main Train Station for 20 minutes, and then cross the road to reach Benesova Bus Station.

The two main private transport companies that provide bus services to Prague Florenc Central Bus Station are Flixbus and RegioJet, both of which take between 150 and 175 minutes, bringing the total journey time to around 170 minutes in light traffic.

The 20-minute bus journey from the airport into Brno city costs around €1 (CZK 25) for a single ticket. Prices for the bus to Prague start at €7.99 (CZK 197) per person, depending on the company and how far in advance you purchase them.

Keep in mind that there is a short walk between the train and bus station in Brno and you’ll need to make your way to your accommodation in Prague once you arrive, which can be tedious when carrying luggage.
