Serving as the entrance to some of Thailand’s most impressive islands, there’s a high chance you’ll find yourself in Pak Bara, a small town located on the southern Andaman coast. While most of the action happens off-shore, whether that be island-hopping between golden sandy beaches or scuba diving in the pristine Koh Tarutao National Marine Park, there’s plenty to see on land too. Tuck into some Thai street food at a local market, visit nearby waterfalls, or for something a little off-beat, check out ancient stalactites and stalagmites, as well as the fossilised remains of a prehistoric elephant at Tham Le Stegodon Cave.
To get to Pak Bara from Hat Yai International Airport, there are two main transportation options: a taxi or private transfer, or a shared minivan. The quickest and only door-to-door option is a taxi or private transfer which will take around 110 minutes in light traffic. A cheaper alternative is to take a shared minivan bus service which takes around 120 minutes, excluding wait times.
Welcome Pickups offers meet and greet services and a friendly introduction to Hat Yai at the same price as a regular taxi. Click here to see the cost.
