Getting from Genoa Airport to the city centre by bus

The best mode of public transport to get from the airport to Genoa is the AMT Volabus. It runs every hour throughout the day and takes around 25 minutes to get to the city centre. The Volabus line connects the airport to the railway stations of Genova Brignole and Genova Piazza Principe, passing through the city centre with the final stop being Piazza Verdi. From here, you can walk to your accommodation in the centre.

How much is the bus from Genoa Airport to the city?

Taking the AMT bus from Genoa Airport to Genoa Centre costs €6 for a one-way trip. You can buy tickets on the bus using contactless payment machines at a discounted price of €5 or with cash for €6. Tickets can also be bought from the AMT app, from the airport ticket machines or online.

The AMT Volabus running between the airport and the city centre is by far the most convenient public transport method. The service is direct and gets you there quickly. However, these buses can get pretty busy during peak season as the airport is a gateway to many destinations around Genoa.

How to get from Genoa Airport to the city of Genoa by train

The cheapest way to get from the airport to the city centre of Genoa is by train. However, there is no train station at the airport so you’ll need to catch the Airlink Bus to Genoa Sestri Ponente Train Station first, which only takes 5 minutes. From here, you can catch a train to wherever you need to go. The best stop to get to the centre is Piazza Principe and the journey takes approximately 40 minutes in total.

Price of the train from Genoa Airport to the city centre?

If you decide to use the bus and train combination to get from Genoa Airport to the city, you can buy tickets separately or together. The Airlink fare is €1.50 one way and a train ticket will cost you €2 to get to Piazza Principe. However, if you buy the tickets together, you’ll pay just €1.60 for the ticket combination.
