Taxis can be found at 3 different locations based on which terminal you arrive at:

  • From Terminal 1: Walk and follow the signs to the LAX-it, or take a free shuttle from the Lower/Arrivals Level at the inner curb outside of baggage claim areas under the green signs.
  • From Terminal 2 and Terminal 3: The taxis can be found between the two terminals inside Parking Structure 3.
  • From Terminal 7 and Terminal 8: Here, the taxis are right outside the terminal, after leaving baggage claim.

How to get from LAX Airport to Universal Studios by shuttle and metro

While this is the cheapest option to get from Los Angeles Airport to Universal Studios, the total journey time is the longest at around 1 hour and 45 mins. There are other combined bus and metro routes available too, but this is the most convenient.

Firstly, walk to the LAX Terminal B Lower Level FlyAway Stop and get the LAX to US FlyAway bus towards LAX-TB-ll until you reach the Union Station – Patsaouras Bus Plaza. The trip should take around 60 minutes, depending on traffic. From there, you’ll walk to Union Station and get the Metro B Line towards North Hollywood Station, disembarking at Universal / Studio City Station. This leg of the journey should take about 25 minutes.

From there it’s a 15-minute walk to the Universal Studios park or you can take one of the free shuttles to reach the front gate. This service runs both ways every 10-15 minutes, seven days a week, from 07:00 until two hours after the park closes.

How much is a metro ticket from LAX to Universal Studios?

The total cost of the fare from LAX Airport to Universal Studios is $13.50 (€12.45) per passenger. A one-way fare on the FlyAway is $9.75 (€9). Then to ride the Metro Rail you must pay with a TAP card, as Metro tokens are no longer accepted. The FlyAway shuttle bus runs from 5:40 am to 1:10am, all year round. The B-Line Metro runs between 04:10-21:01, every 7-20 minutes.

While being the cheapest option available, this is the most tiring and complicated way to get from LAX to Universal Studios, especially if you’re travelling with lots of luggage items and kids in tow. You’d be much better off opting for a taxi or private shuttle.
