How to get from Santorini Airport to Oia
After landing to Santorini International Airport (JTR), you can choose between two transfer options, taxi and bus. Santorini airport taxis are the most commodious and labor-saving way of transportation. The journey lasts 25 minutes, under no congestion and the taxi fare is approximately 47€. On the other hand, taking the bus is a much more tedious task. The total trip duration is 50 minutes on average but you will have to change lines and therefore, the waiting time for the next route will consequently increase the length of the ride. Nevertheless, the bus still remains the most affordable option as the total price for both tickets is 3.50€. How to get from Santorini airport to Oia by taxi
Santorini airport taxis are the most handy and punctual way of transportation. Available around the clock, the taxi transfer to Oia takes about 25 minutes while the average fare, as it is not fixed but it is calculated by a taximeter, is 47€.
That said, it is important to note that the grey taxi vehicles in Santorini are limited and thus, you may have to share your taxi (but not the fee!) or wait in line for an available taxi.
Taxi fare from Santorini airport to Oia
Unfortunately, you won't find a set fare for your transfer from Santorini Airport (JTR) to Oia. Regular taxis charge based on the taximeter. Moreover, factors such as the time of the day or excessive luggage, raise the cost. Nevertheless, you can expect to be charged around 47€ for your ride during daytime (05:00 to 01:00) while during the night shift (01:00 to 05:00), there is an additional cost of 25%.
As taxis are a very popular transfer option in Santorini but the available vehicles don't handle the high demand, you may have to share your taxi but not the cost!
Taxis are by far the most convenient way of transportation. Besides being available 24/7, a taxi will take you directly to your destination without having to change bus itineraries or being crowded in public transport. Moreover, your personal belongings won't be exposed and you will be dropped off at your desired location. Nevertheless, airport taxis in Santorini are few, so the waiting time for a taxi may be long while you may have to share your taxi without sharing the fee!
As Santorini airport taxis are limited and don't manage to cover the high demand, the waiting time for a taxi may be significant, especially during summer. Moreover, it's likely that you will have to share your ride as taxis usually get full before leaving the airport.
Although the distance is relatively short, the roads in Santorini tend to get congested and therefore, the travelling time may be much longer.
Always have cash on you as many drivers don't accept credit cards.
You should find travelers with the same destination and agree to appear as a group in order to split the fare.
Most of the taxi drivers speak English fluently.
