Sylhet is a metropolitan city in northeastern Bangladesh and one of the largest cities in the country, built on the right bank of the Surma River. You can reach Sylhet from many different airports near the city but it’s also possible to get from Dhaka Airport to Sylhet, which is about 235 km southwest.
The most convenient option is to take an airport taxi that will take you directly from Dhaka Airport to Sylhet and the door of your hotel or apartment. There is a railway station at the airport, where you can take a train to Dhaka Railway Station in the city centre; from there, there are trains to Sylhet daily. Finally, you can reach Sylhet by bus, which also takes around 7 hours and costs on average €6.30 (BDT 745) per traveller. Again, you will first need to take the train, or better yet a taxi, to reach the city centre, as there is no direct Dhaka Airport to Sylhet bus service.
