Located on the River Danube, Budapest is the capital of Hungary. The two popular districts hilly Buda and the flat Pest are connected by an impressive 19th-century Chain Bridge, one of Budapest’s most famous landmarks. Be sure to take the exciting funicular up Castle Hill to explore Budapest’s Old Town, home to many museums, churches, eateries and boutique shops.
To get from Debrecen Airport to Budapest, you can either take a local taxi or pre-book a private transfer. The cost of a taxi will be around €205 (HUF 73,000) and the journey time will be approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes. There’s no public transport available from Debrecen Airport to Budapest, however, you can take a combination of buses and trains to Budapest Airport. You will need to take the R1 or R2 bus to the train station in Debracen, then take the train from there to Budapest Airport; that wouldn’t be the end of the journey as you’d also have to make arrangements for the trip to downtown Budapest. This isn’t a convenient or time-efficient transfer option and it’s not recommended.
Welcome Pickups offers meet and greet services and a friendly introduction to Debrecen at the same price as a regular taxi. Click here to see the cost.
