Valley of the Kings is among Egypt’s most important and most visited monuments and for a good reason. It’s a royal burial ground for pharaohs such as Tutankhamun, Seti I, and Ramses II and it’s totally worth a visit if you’re planning a trip to Luxor and the surrounding areas.
If you’re not travelling with a tour operator and you’re making your own plans, the easiest and most convenient option to get from Luxor Airport to the Valley of the Kings is by taking an airport taxi. Keep in mind that public transportation isn’t available at Luxor Airport so you don’t really have many alternatives. You can either take an airport taxi from the rank or book a private airport shuttle in advance and have a driver waiting for you upon arrival. Given that it’s a 45-minute drive to the Valley of the Kings, taking a taxi is a great value-for-money option, even if you’re travelling on a budget. Local taxi fares are quite low but aren’t fixed, so make sure to agree on the price with the driver, before you get in the taxi. The average fare for a standard taxi from Luxor Airport to the Valley of the Kings is about €10 (EGP 340).
Welcome Pickups offers meet and greet services and a friendly introduction to Luxor at the same price as a regular taxi. Click here to see the cost.
