The bustling city of Accra is the capital of Ghana. From golden sand beaches and vibrant nightlife to colourful markets and fascinating museums, there’s so much to do in this sprawling city. Spend the morning sunbathing at Kokrobite Beach, then enjoy some lunch while browsing the local Makola Market bazaar, ending your day at the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, learning about the country’s unique history.
When it comes to travelling from Accra Airport to the city centre, the only recommended transfer option is to take a taxi. Although there are local buses that leave from the bus station which is located around a 15-minute walk from the airport, these are not safe for tourists to use. An airport taxi will take 10-20 minutes to reach the city centre and will cost around €2.50 (GHS 30).
Welcome Pickups offers meet and greet services and a friendly introduction to Accra at the same price as a regular taxi. Click here to see the cost.
