How to get from Albany Airport to Saratoga Springs

Although two separate bus companies serve the Albany airport to Saratoga Springs route, neither is a very practical option, as they both have a number of limitations with regard to their use. The bus service run by CDTA (Capital District Transportation Authority) runs from 6:53 to 20:23 at 1 and 2h intervals but is an indirect service and involves the use of three bus routes (117, 905 and 450) and changing buses on two occasions. The total travel time is 120-142 minutes depending on the service taken so would only be applicable for travellers who have a lot of time to spare and with very light luggage. The second bus option is an express route run by Ourbus, which is a very limited service (twice a week – every Thursday and Sunday at 16:25). Travel time is only 40 minutes but tickets need to be booked well in advance due to the limited service.

The total cost of the CDTA bus service from Albany airport to Saratoga Springs is $4.50 (€4.50). This is a three-leg journey involving three routes (117, 905 and 450), with each way costing  $1.50 (€1.50), therefore a total cost of $4.50 (€4.50). The direct bus route run by Ourbus can be pre-booked online at a cost of $25 (€25).

Unfortunately, neither of these public transport options is practical or convenient to get you from Albany Airport to Saratoga Springs. Even though the CDTA bus service runs at regular intervals, having to take three separate bus routes is impractical especially when travelling with children or a lot of baggage. Travel time is also very long (120-142 minutes) which should also be taken into consideration. The Ourbus service, on the other hand, has an express route to Saratoga Springs and a mere 40-minute journey but unfortunately only runs one service at 16:25 every Thursday and Sunday, so it is a very restrictive option.
