The port city of Chittagong, known locally as Chattogram, is Bangladesh’s second-largest city, located on the south-east coast. Head down to the fish market early in the morning to watch fishermen bring in baskets filled with their daily catch, alongside vendors frantically shouting as they try to land the best prices. Gain some insight into the region’s diverse history at the Ethnological Museum as well as the Zia Memorial Museum and the sombre Chittagong War Cemetery.
There is only one transport option when travelling from Chittagong Airport to Chittagong city centre and that is to take a local taxi or private transfer. Despite there being no public transport available along this route, taking an airport taxi is still very affordable, with an average price of just €6.60 (BDT 800) for up to 4 travellers, and a journey time of 45 minutes in light traffic conditions.
Welcome Pickups offers meet and greet services and a friendly introduction to Chittagong at the same price as a regular taxi. Click here to see the cost.
