Jacksonville International Airport (JAX) to St. Augustine

There are several companies offering transfers from Jacksonville airport to St. Augustine by shuttle. One of those companies is Getz-Ya-There Airport Shuttle which is available 24/7 and charges a minimum of $90 (€83.83) for a shuttle transfer. Shuttle transfers must be booked in advance by phone or online. The journey takes one to one and a half hours, and you may have some additional waiting time for departure from the airport.

Shuttle fares may vary amongst the different companies offering shuttle services from JAX to St. Augustine. The company Getz-Ya-There Airport Shuttle charges a minimum fare of $90 (€83.83) for the first passenger and $5 (€4.69) for each additional passenger (for up to 6 passengers). Fuel surcharges apply. Taking a shuttle is the most convenient option for larger groups of travellers as you can all ride together to St. Augustine. You may have to wait a bit at the airport to depart, but once you are on your way, the journey is direct to St. Augustine, and depending on the company you book with and the service you choose, you may be dropped off directly at your accommodation.

The cheapest option to get from JAX airport to St. Augustine is to go by bus. First, you will have to take the public bus – Line 1 (operated by Jacksonville Transportation Authority) to the JRTC BAY J station in downtown Jacksonville. Then, you will go to the adjacent Greyhound bus terminal and take a Greyhound bus the rest of the way. This route costs at least $8.75 (€8.15) depending on which Greyhound bus you take, and the journey takes around 2 hours, not including waiting time.

You will have to pay the fare for the local Line 1 bus to downtown Jacksonville, plus the fare for the Greyhound bus. Line 1 bus costs $1.75 (€1.64), whilst the fare for the Greyhound bus depends on what time your bus departs. The bus departing at 14:25 costs $7 (€6.57) and includes a carry-on bag and one luggage bag to be stored under the bus. For a standard economy fare, the bus departing at 15:30 costs $25 (€23.45) and the bus departing at 23:30 costs $23 (€21.57). Your Greyhound bus ride can be booked and paid for online.

Taking the bus is a great option if you are hoping to save some money and aren’t in a hurry. If you are arriving at the airport in the morning, you will have to wait a while to take the Greyhound bus from downtown Jacksonville as they only run in the afternoon and at night. Also, you will have to walk a bit to transfer buses, and you may need to walk or take another form of transport one in St. Augustine to reach your final destination.
