Along the northeast coast of Florida sits the USA’s oldest city, St. Augustine. History buffs can tread the cobblestone streets in the historic district and marvel at sites such as the Castillo de San Marcos, a 17th-century Spanish fortress. Beach-goers can catch some sun rays and explore St. Augustine’s beaches along the Atlantic coast. At night, be sure to check out the cosy cafes and bars in the historic district and treat your palette to some of Florida’s delicious coastal cuisine.
The Jacksonville Airport (JAX) is around 84 km (52 miles) from St. Augustine, and you can make the journey by taxi, shared shuttle, or bus. Taking an airport taxi is by far the fastest and most comfortable transfer option. By car, it takes around an hour to an hour and a half to go from JAX to St. Augustine and costs around $94 (€87.55). Several companies are offering shared shuttles from the airport, with transfers estimated to cost at least $90 (€83.83). Alternatively, you can take a public bus from JAX to downtown Jacksonville and transfer to a Greyhound bus to go the rest of the way to St. Augustine. The fare for both buses will total at least $8.75 (€8.15).
Welcome Pickups offers meet and greet services and a friendly introduction to Jacksonville at the same price as a regular taxi. Click here to see the cost.
