The cost of a one-way ticket on the Va y Ven bus is just €3 (MXN45). This can be purchased inside the airport from the bright blue kiosks using cash only (unless you spend over MXN 100). The cost of a ticket on the Autoprogresso bus from Merida to Progreso will be around €17 (MXN 380), however, prices may change depending on the time of day or demand for the bus. This can be paid inside the Autoprogreso bus station in person before getting on the bus.

You’ll notice the cost of a larger group is exponentially more expensive than a taxi or private transfer, so if you’re in a larger group, this is not a cost-effective means of transportation.

Where do I find the bus at Merida Airport?

The Va y Ven bus leaves from outside the main terminal building at Merida Airport. After exiting the Arrivals Hall, you will see car rental offices, just past these you will see the bus station. The Va y Ven buses are bright blue and have their destination in lights on the front.

Once you reach Merida city center, you will get off the bus at the ADO terminal on Calle 68 in Centro, and walk 10 minutes to the Autoprogreso bus station.

Although a budget-friendly option for solo travelers, taking the bus from Merida Airport to Progreso is the least convenient and slowest transfer option. There’s no luggage storage on the Autoprogreso bus, and you will need to walk through the busy city streets when making the bus change in Merida. Plus, once you reach Progreso, you will need to find alternate transportation to reach your hotel, adding even more time and cost to your journey.
