Progreso is a picturesque port city on the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico. It’s most famous for its long promenade which is lined with white sand beaches on one side and idyllic palapa-roofed restaurants and bars on the other. Many people visiting Merida will spend a day or two in Progreso to enjoy the slower pace of life and the stunning Caribbean beaches.
When it comes to transportation from Merida Airport to Progreso, you have two different options, taking an airport taxi or the local buses. A taxi will take around 45 minutes to reach Progreso and will cost approximately €25 (MXN 600). The public bus from Merida Airport to Progreso will take closer to 2 hours, as it isn’t direct, and will cost €2.50 (MXN 48) per person.
