In order to take the train to Birmingham, you first have to take one of the Skylink bus services from East Midlands Airport to one of the connecting railway stations. The Skylink buses all depart from the airport Coach Station which is located next to the main terminal building. The Skylink Derby bus will transport you to Derby Railway Station which is where you will get the Cross Country rail service to Birmingham. The Skylink Nottingham bus will take you to Sycamore Rail station where you will get off and walk to Long Eaton Station, which is 2 minutes away. The Cross Country rail service to Birmingham leaves from either Long Eaton Station or you can take the first train to Derby Station and change to a Birmingham train.

The available public transport option is not direct. You first have to take a bus to the train station and it requires a considerable amount of time (about 95 minutes) to complete the journey.
