Getting from Turin Airport to Montgenèvre

Taking Turin’s public transportation from the airport to Montgenèvre is a long and tedious journey. Although the cheapest option, you will have to take bus No. 268 to Porta Nuova train station (45 minutes), then transfer to Porta Susa (5 minutes) where you can get the train to Gare TGV Modane (1 hour 22 minutes). From here, you can get the bus to Montgenèvre Gare Routière (55 minutes); your total travel time should be around 3 hours 40 minutes, excluding waiting times.

Unfortunately, no train runs directly from Turin airport to Montgenèvre. To take the train, you must first take the Arriva 268 bus to Piazza Carlo Felice (€1,70), walk around 5 minutes to the Porta Nuova train station, and then take the train from there into Torino porta Susa (€ 5,50). From Torino porta Susa, you will take the train to Gare TGV Modane (€22) and finally transfer to a bus to Montgenèvre Gare Routière (€11,40).

The total journey time on public transport will be around 3 hours 40, but the total cost is €41 per traveller, making it the most affordable transfer option.

Despite being the more affordable journey, taking two buses and a train in the space of 3 hours 40 minutes, excluding wait times, just after a long flight can be exhausting – especially when travelling with children and/or heavy luggage. Moreover, if you travel at night, you will need to take a taxi or find temporary accommodation near the airport to then continue your trip in the morning as some of the associated transfers stop operating early in the evening.
