The total journey time will be around 2 hours and 30 minutes.

*The ADO bus only leaves 3 times a day, so ensuring your flight lines up with one of the times is essential. After 11:00 there are no bus routes to Chichen Itza.

How much is the bus from Merida Airport to Chichen Itza?

The cost of a single ticket on the Va y Ven bus will be €3 (MXN 45). You can purchase this ticket inside the airport at the blue kiosks or from the driver in exact change. The cost of an ADO ticket will vary depending on how far in advance you book and the time of day. If you purchase your ticket on the same day as travel, you will pay €12 (MXN 274), however, if you purchase online in advance, you can pay as little as €9 (MXN 200).

Where do I find the bus at Merida Airport?

The Va y Ven bus leaves from directly outside the terminal building. From the Arrivals Hall, you will see signs for Ground Transportation and Autobuses. After the Car rental offices, you will see the large blue Va y Ven buses waiting. The destination is in orange lights on the front of the bus.

If traveling with luggage or time constraints, taking the bus isn’t the option for you. Not only will you have to make a change, but the ADO bus only leaves 3 times in the morning, with a 3 hour wait between buses. If you miss the last bus, you will be stranded in Merida center for the evening. Plus, there’s very little luggage space on the Va y Van bus, meaning you can only take small items with you.

The ADO has ample luggage storage onboard but the Va y Ven has very little.
