When it comes to exploring the ancient Mayan ruins, you have three transfer options from Merida Airport to Chichen Itza: taxi, private transfer, or bus. Taking a local taxi or private Merida Airport transfer is the most seamless way to travel, as the journey is direct and will take just 1 hour and 40 minutes.
A more budget friendly option is to take the bus from Merida Airport to Chichen Itza. However, this option isn’t direct, so will take closer to 2 hours and 30 minutes. You will first have to take the Va y Ven bus into Merida City center, then take the ADO bus from there to the ruins. It’s also possible to take a combination of buses and train from Merida Airport to Chichen Itza, however, this journey requires 5 changes and around 40 minutes of walking, so it’s not a viable transfer option.
Welcome Pickups offers meet and greet services and a friendly introduction to Merida at the same price as a regular taxi. Click here to see the cost.
