How to get from Bali Denpasar Airport to Kuta by bus

There is a bus service that can take you straight from the airport to Kuta, however, there are no timetables and the service can be irregular. Nevertheless, it’s a good option for those on a budget and who don’t mind a longer journey to Kuta.

Trans Metro Dewata, also known as Teman Bus, provides a direct service from Bali Airport to Kuta. You can hop on the K02 or K2B bus which operates the Corridor 2 route between Ngurah Rai Airport (Badung) and Ubung Bus Station via Ngurah Rai Stadium (Denpasar). You can get off at various stops within Kuta such as Krisna Kuta, BPD. Kuta, Kuta Central Park. The journey should take around 30 minutes and costs just €0.27 (IDR 4400).

Alternatively, you can catch the public bus (Trans Sarbagita) from the airport. The main problem with this bus is there are only 6 buses during the day. So expect long waiting times for it. Tickets cost €0.21 (IDR 3500) and it will go straight to Kuta.

Using the Teman Bus services from Bali Denpasar Airport to Kuta is definitely the cheapest choice. You’ll pay €0.27 (IDR 4400) for an adult one-way ticket and €0.12 (IDR 2000) for students/elderly/disabled persons.

To purchase tickets for this service, you’ll need to have an e-money/non-cash card. You can either download the Friends Bus app or purchase Indonesian non-cash cards from the bank or local 7eleven shops, which you can then top up at the cashier. Once you have your card, head over to the nearest Trans Metro Dewata Shelter or bus stop and wait for the arrival of the bus. You’ll need to validate your card by tapping it on the ticket reader aboard the bus.

The Corridor 2 Teman Bus departs from the airport every 15 minutes, however, there is no timetable and the service is somewhat unreliable and you could end up waiting for up to an hour.

Where do I catch the bus from?

Look for the big blue Trans Metro Dewata bus stop located just outside of the Domestic Gate terminal.

Even when you catch the Trans Metro Dewata bus to Sentral Parkir Kuta. You still need to catch a taxi or walk to your hotel, as Sentral Parkir Kuta (Kuta Central Park) is a long way from Kuta Beach and popular hotels. Furthermore, as there are no timetables, you can’t be sure that there will be a service departing around the time you arrive.
