Since there is no direct train route between Rijeka Airport and Pula, this isn’t the quickest or most convenient transport option, however, it’s a cost-effective option if time isn’t a constraint. First, you’ll need to take a 40-minute shared airport shuttle bus, operated by Rijeka Airport, to Jelačićev Square bus station. From there it is a 10-minute walk or taxi ride to Rijeka train station where you need to hop on an HŽ Putnicki Prijevoz (HZPP) train to Lupoglav for 40 minutes. At Lupoglav, switch trains and head in the direction of Pula for another 145 minutes. The total journey is around 235 minutes, excluding wait times.

Once you arrive at Jelačićev Trg 3 (Jelačićev Square bus station), you’ll need to walk or take a taxi to cover the 1 km distance to Rijeka Train Station. At the train station, refer to the departures board to find your departure platform towards Lupoglav.

From there, you will need to walk for up to 10 minutes to Rijeka Central Bus Station where you can board an Autotrans bus towards Pula or Rovinj, which takes 135 minutes, disembarking at Pula Central Bus Station. The total journey time by bus comes to around 175 minutes, not including any wait times.

*Alternatively, there is a Flixbus service that departs once a day at 05:10 from Rijeka Central Bus Station directly to Pula Central Bus Station which is much quicker, taking 85 minutes, and costing €19.99 per traveller. Given the departure time, you may need to take a taxi from the airport to the bus station as the shuttle may not be running at this hour.
