Located at Zanzibar Island’s northernmost tip and 67 km away from Zanzibar International Airport, Nungwi is one of the larger villages on the island. Known for its incredible beaches, it has become increasingly popular amongst tourists. As it grows in popularity, it is now a place where traditional and modern meet, making it a great holiday destination for all.
So, when travelling to the grand resorts of Nungwi, you will be landing at Zanzibar airport, also known as Abeid Amani Karume International Airport, and you have two transportation options; you can take a taxi or the local bus. Taxis and private transfers from Zanzibar airport to Nungwi are the only direct way, taking 1 hour 20 minutes. For a more adventurous and cost-savvy alternative, you can take Zanzibar’s famed local bus, a ‘dala dala’, from Stone Town to Nungwi.
Welcome Pickups offers meet and greet services and a friendly introduction to Zanzibar at the same price as a regular taxi. Click here to see the cost.
