The impressive Statue of Unity towers over the Narmada River basin and the vast Sardar Sarovar dam. The statue was built to honour the ‘Iron Man of India’, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the man responsible for uniting all 562 states of the country to build the Republic of India. Standing an unbelievable 182 meters tall, the Statue of Unity is the highest statue in the world. When it comes to travelling the distance from Ahmedabad Airport to the Statue of Unity, you have three options; taxi, bus or train. The local airport taxis will cost around €45 (INR 4,000) and take 4 hours to reach the statue. The local bus will take closer to 5 hours and will cost €5.50 (INR 468). Finally, the train will take just 3 hours and 30 minutes to reach the Statue of Unity and will cost around €7.50 (INR 645), depending on your ticket type.
