How to get from Granada Airport to Sierra Nevada by taxi

If you wish to take a local taxi to Sierra Nevada, the journey should take approximately 60 minutes in normal traffic. However, during the ski season, the journey time may increase due to traffic or poor weather conditions.

Taxis are available from the airport and should should be easy to spot, as they are always white with a green diagonal stripe on the doors. The “TAXI” sign on the roof will indicate availability – green light means the taxi is free and red means it’s in service. The taxis available from the rank are generally trustworthy but always make sure there is a meter and licence displayed in the cab.

How to get from Granada Airport to Sierra Nevada by bus

Unfortunately, there is no direct bus route for your Granada Airport transfer to Sierra Nevada. You will need to take a bus from the airport to the central bus station and catch a connection to the Sierra Nevada from there. The actual travel time is more or less the same as the taxi, but depending on what time of the day you arrive at the airport, waiting times can increase your total journey time by up to three hours.

For the first part of your journey, you will need to catch line 245 from the airport, which should take around 15 minutes to reach the city centre of Granada. You will need to get off at Estación de Autobuses. There are approximately 10 buses a day running from around 05:20 and the schedules adjust daily to meet flight arrival times.

The route from the central bus station to the Sierra Nevada is serviced by the ALSA bus company. 3 buses run daily, Monday to Friday, and 4 buses run daily over the weekend. The bus is direct to the Ski Resort Bus Park with no stops, so the journey time is around 45 minutes in good weather and traffic conditions.

How much is the bus from Granada Airport to Sierra Nevada?

Bus 245 from the airport costs €3. You can purchase your ticket as you board the bus at the airport, but you must pay in cash.

The bus ticket from Granada Central Bus Station to Sierra Nevada is €7 and you can buy a return ticket for €11. Tickets for the Sierra Nevada bus are available at the ALSA bus ticket counter at the Granada Central Train station.

The bus is available from Granada Central Station, platform 3. To get to the station, you will need to take bus 245 from Granada Airport to the central station, which is available from the arrivals terminal at the airport.

Although the bus has a similar travel time to a car with a cheaper rate, it is far less convenient. This is largely due to the fact that it leaves from the central bus station and not the airport of Granada. This extra transit can be a hassle with luggage and can take a lot of time. The bus schedule from the airport is adjusted to meet flight arrival times and as a result can be very busy.

Note that outside of the ski season, travel to Sierra Nevada by bus is extremely limited. Buses will travel only once a day at 09:00 from Monday to Sunday.
