Although being the most expensive option, taxis are the best way to reach Bukit Bintang, especially if you are travelling on limited time. Taxis are by far the most convenient and comfortable method to get to Bukit Bintang. Not only are they available 24/7 but they provide door-to-door service, unlike public transport which requires multiple transfers.

Useful Tips

You will need to take a larger taxi if you are travelling with big luggage as Malaysian taxis are notorious for having small boots.

How to get from Kuala Lumpur airport to Bukit Bintang by metro

There are two different trains when travelling in the Kuala Lumpur metro; the KLIA Express and the KLIA Transit. As said in it’s name, the express train is the fastest and more convenient option, as it takes you directly to KL Sentral station without stopping, taking only 28 minutes. The KLIA Transit, on the other hand, will stop at Salak Tinggi, Putrajaya, Bandar Tasik and Selatan. Unfortunately, both trains terminate at the KL Sentral station, which is just outside the city centre.

You will need to take an additional train to get to the Bukit Bintang district. To do so, you can take the MRT line 9 – Sungai Buloh-Kajang line at Muzium Negara Station and get off at the Bukit Bintang station. The metro departs every 4 minutes.

How to get from Kuala Lumpur airport to Bukit Bintang by bus

If you wish to take the bus from the airport, KLIA provides an Airport Coach Service which takes you to KL Sentral, where additional transport is required in order to reach Bukit Bintang. The airport bus provides a comfortable and cheap transit; however, the travel time can get heavily affected by traffic, and can take around 1 hour 30 minutes just to reach the city.

Once the bus drops you off at KL Sentral, you will need to take an additional train to get to the Bukit Bintang district. To do so, you can take the MRT line 9 – Sungai Buloh-Kajang Line at Muzium Negara Station and get off at the station Bukit Bintang. The metro departs every 4 minutes.
