As there’s no train station at Bergamo airport, the best way to reach the town by public transport is to catch the bus. The ATB Airport Bus Line 1 will take you from Bergamo Airport to Bergamo, stopping at most of the main destinations along the way. This includes Bergamo’s main bus and train station, the lower town centre, the Funicular and Città Alta (the old upper town). You’ll be able to reach the bus and train station in 15 minutes and Città Alta in 30 minutes, excluding wait times.

You’ll need to purchase a ticket beforehand and validate it when you get onboard by inserting it into the machines at the front and back of the bus. Tickets can be purchased from one of the kiosks inside the airport or from the ticket machines at the bus stop. A single 3 zone ticket including luggage costs €2.40. The ticket is valid for a single journey on the Airport Bus Line 1 and for unlimited journeys on all ATB services within 90 minutes of validation.

The Airport Bus Line 1 operates every 15 minutes Monday to Saturday between 05:18am-22:40pm and every 22 minutes on Sundays and Bank Holidays between 06:28am-22:40pm.

The Airport Bus Line 1 leaves from Bus Stop 1 in front of the arrivals hall. The bus runs every 15 minutes from Monday to Saturday and every 22 minutes on Sundays and Bank Holidays.

While the bus is a very affordable way to travel between Bergamo Airport and Bergamo, it can get quite busy. The buses don’t have separate luggage compartments either, so you’ll need to carry your luggage onboard, which can make it quite a tight squeeze.
