Although the bus service offers a direct connection between Santiago airport and Valparaíso, there are only two bus departures a day making this option convenient only if your flight arrives around the same time as a bus departure. If you are unsure of your flight arrival time or you may be delayed, you will probably miss the bus you had pre-booked. Moreover, there have been complaints of lost or mishandled luggage, which can be very aggravating, especially at the start of a lovely holiday.
