Nestled in the Valais canton of Switzerland, Zermatt is a snowy resort town known for its incredible skiing, hiking and climbing. The main street, Bahnhofstrasse, is like something out of a winter wonderland movie, with boutique cafes, quaint restaurants and outdoor skating rinks. After a long day on the slopes, you can relax with the locals for a bit of après-ski, something Zermatt is famous for.
Unlike most other destinations in Switzerland, there’s no way to take a local taxi from Zurich Airport to Zermatt. So, if you wish to use private transport for this journey, you will need to book in advance with a trusted company such as Welcome Pickups. In that case, due to Zermatt being car-free, your driver would be able to take you to Täsch, 5 km from Zermatt, from where you’d then take a 12-minute shuttle train to your destination.
The other option is to take the train from Zurich Airport to Zermatt. The train journey will take around 3 hours and 30 minutes and will cost €96.55.
Welcome Pickups offers meet and greet services and a friendly introduction to Zurich at the same price as a regular taxi. Click here to see the cost.
