Pune is located a few hours inland from Mumbai in the Maharashtra State of India. It’s a vibrant city filled with mouth-watering street food such as local delicacies Misal Pav, Vada Pav and Poha to get your fill of curry and rice. And if history is your thing, be sure to visit the Aagakhan Palace, where Mahatma Ghandi was held prisoner, the beautiful Lal Mahal Red Palace and the Shivneri Fort.
There are three options to cover the 155 km distance from Mumbai Airport to Pune. The quickest and easiest way is by an airport taxi, which takes just over 3 hours; the cost of a local cab ranges between €29-34 (INR 2,500-3,000).
Travelling from Mumbai International Airport to Pune by bus is the cheapest option as it only costs €6.80 (INR 600) per person, with a journey time of 3 hours and 15 minutes, not including wait times. However, wait times for the bus can be up to 4 hours and buses are also impacted by road traffic so journey times can vary.
Another cheap alternative is to take a bus from the airport and connect with a long-distance train to Pune. Trains run more frequently than the bus but the journey can take up to 5 hours depending on your chosen route, and even longer with wait times.
Welcome Pickups offers meet and greet services and a friendly introduction to Mumbai at the same price as a regular taxi. Click here to see the cost.
