How to get from Mumbai Airport to Mumbai Central Railway Station

Taxis from Mumbai Airport to Mumbai Railway Station can be found at the Arrivals exit and Ground Transportation Level of Terminal 1, and from P4/Arrivals at Terminal 2.

How to get from Mumbai Airport to Mumbai Railway Station by train

India has one of the largest train systems in the world with services across the country running very frequently. Despite this, there still isn’t a train service that runs directly from the airport and passengers wishing to take the train will first need to take a bus to the nearest train station to connect with the Indian Railway network.

From Terminal 1, the domestic terminal, take the 312 bus towards Seepz Bus Station for 5 minutes and disembark at Vile Parle Station (E). From there, board any train towards Churchgate which takes around 30 minutes giving a total journey time of 35 minutes, excluding wait times. 

If you are arriving at Terminal 2, the closest train station is Andheri which you can reach by taking bus A337 or 308 towards Agarkar Chowk/Majas Depot for 9 minutes. Once you disembark, it’s a short walk to Andheri Station where you can board any train towards Churchgate that stops at Mumbai Central, travelling for approximately 23 minutes. The total journey time for this route is 32 minutes, excluding any wait times. 

How much does it cost to get from Mumbai Airport to Central Railway Station by train?

Taking a bus and a train to get from Mumbai International Airport to Mumbai Central Railway Station is the cheapest and fastest public transport option available. The bus journey for each traveller costs just €0.10 (INR 10) and the train journey is €0.80 (INR 70) per person for an air-conditioned train, bringing the total cost for each person to €0.90 (INR 80). The bus is payable in cash to the driver and the train is payable in cash or card from the service counter.

The 312 bus runs from 05:35 to 23:35 every 10-25 minutes. The A337 runs from 06:25 to 23:55 on average every 9 minutes and the 308 runs between 05:32 and 22:32.

Where do I take the train from?

At Terminal 1, walk along the front of the terminal building keeping to the left and turn right at the end of the building to find the bus stop. From here you can take BEST bus service 312, or any other bus service that stops at Vile Pale Station (E). From Vile Pale Station (E), numerous trains stop at Mumbai Central Railway Station.

The Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport bus stop at Terminal 2 is located outside to the left when you exit the building from where you can board bus 337 or 308 to Andheri Station. At Andheri Station, take any train that stops at Mumbai Central Railway Station.

Convenience

There are hundreds of trains departing Vile Parle and Andheri Stations each day which makes this a reliable transport option, especially during peak hour traffic when the trains can sometimes be faster than taking a taxi.

However, given that the connecting buses from the airport don’t run as late or as often as trains, and that Mumbai train stations are some of the busiest in the world, unless you are on a super tight budget, a private Welcome Pickups transfer can provide a much more relaxing journey in the same amount of time, without you needing to wait around for connecting buses or trains.
