Getting from Malta Airport to St. Julian's

If you prefer public transport or are on a budget, there are multiple bus services available. The first bus from Malta Airport to St. Julian’s is the TD2.

This is an express service to St. Julian’s that takes just 30 minutes to get there. This service runs every 30 minutes from 05:00 to 00:30 every day.

The route has just one stop between the airport and St Julian’s, “Millers”. You will need to disembark at “San Giljan”, just a 3-minute walk from the central area where all the main hotels are located.

Your bus fare depends on when you travel. During the summer, a single ticket from Malta Airport to St Julian’s costs €2.50, whereas this drops to €2 in the winter. At nighttime, the bus ticket costs €3 per person.

You can pay on the bus using a contactless debit or credit card, or by paying the driver in cash. If you choose cash, you’ll receive a paper ticket, which you must validate using the machine near the driver.

The TD2 bus is the most convenient public transportation option as it is direct and the journey time is quite fast. Moreover, the bus departs frequently so you won’t have too long of a wait for the next available service. That said, luggage storage is limited and your journey time will be longer than taking a taxi or private transfer.

The second-best public transport route from Malta Airport to St. Julian’s is to take the TD3. This is another express bus service from the airport, but it has more stops than the TD2, so the travel time is usually over 35 minutes. It departs every 30 minutes from 05:15 to 00:45.  

Bus fares from Malta Airport to St. Julian’s depend on the season: €2.50 for a single adult ticket in summer and €2 in winter.

You can pay when boarding by tapping a contactless debit or credit card, or with cash directly to the driver. Cash payments come with a paper ticket, which you’ll need to validate at the machine next to the driver.

Though taking the TD3 Malta Airport to St. Julians bus is cost-effective, it is a slightly longer route than the TD2 and much longer than taking a taxi or private transfer. You’ll also need to arrange further transport once you get to St. Julian’s.
