How to get from Malta Airport to Sliema
The quaint marina town of Sliema is located 11.5 km away from Malta International (MLA) Airport, and you have two different transfer options to make this journey, taxi or bus. Taking a Malta Airport Taxi is by far the most convenient transport option as it takes only 25 minutes and costs 20€. Taking the bus is a much slower but also cheaper option as tickets cost just 2€ one-way, but the total journey time is 60 minutes. Welcome Pickups offers meet and greet services and a friendly introduction to Malta at the same price as a regular taxi. Click here to see the cost.

There's a waiting time of up to 60 minutes
The X2 bus is available from 06:00 to 23:00.
Where do I get it from?
The X2 bus can be found in the bus terminus located just outside of the arrivals terminal at Malta airport. You can easily spot the X2 bus by its white and lime green paint.
Taking the X2 bus is great if you're on a budget, but not the best option if you're on a tight schedule. Not only do you have a wait of up to 60 minutes between buses, but there are many stops between Malta airport and Sliema, making this transfer option extremely slow.
The X2 bus leaves on a hour, every hour, so if you arrive at 5 or 10 past, you will have a long wait for the next bus. In these cases, I recommend taking a different form of transportation.
During night hours, ticket prices can rise to 3€.
Be sure to carry change as the bus driver won't accept cards.
It's recommended to travel light as the X2 bus doesn't have dedicated luggage storage space.
