Gozo is one of 21 islands that make up the Maltese archipelago. It’s known for its Neolithic Ġgantija Temple ruins, stellar hiking trails, stunning beaches and scuba-diving sites. The distance between Malta Airport and Gozo is approximately 40 km, usually taking around 1 hour and 30 minutes by car.
Travelling from Malta Airport to Gozo requires you to take a ferry from Cirkewwa in the north of Malta, as there is no road access to the island of Gozo. To reach the Cirkewwa ferry port, you have three main transfer options; taxi, private transfer or bus. Taking a Malta Airport taxi is your quickest option as it takes no more than 40 minutes to reach the port and costs €30.
Alternatively, you can take the X1 bus. The trip duration is longer but the cost is much cheaper, with tickets at just €2. Just remember that for all transport options, you must factor in the ferry to Gozo, which costs €4.65 and takes 25 minutes to reach the island.
