Gozo is one of the three main islands that make up the Maltese archipelago. The distance between Malta Airport and Gozo is approximately 40 kilometers, usually taking around 1 hour and 10 minutes by car and ferry boat.
Traveling from Malta Airport to Gozo requires you to take a ferry from Cirkewwa in the north of Malta, or Grand Harbour in the south, as there is no road access to the island of Gozo.
To reach the Cirkewwa or Grand Harbour ferry port, you have three main transfer options: taxi, private transfer, or a choice of buses. A Malta Airport taxi or a pre-booked Malta Airport transfer are your quickest and most convenient options, as they take no more than 45 minutes to reach Cirkewwa or 15 minutes to Grand Harbour in Valletta.
Alternatively, you can take one of the Airport Direct buses to either port. The trip duration is longer, but the cost is much cheaper, making it an ideal choice for budget or solo travelers.
Just remember that for all transport options, you must factor in the ferry to Gozo, which takes 25 minutes to reach the island from Cirkewwa port or 45 minutes from Grand Harbour port.
Welcome Pickups offers meet and greet services and a friendly introduction to Malta at the same price as a regular taxi. Click here to see the cost.
