The Circumvesuviana trains have a different platform with separate ticket barriers from the other trains at Naples Centrale Station. You will need to take the stairs down to the level below the high-speed trains known as Garibaldi Station. Check the screens to see which platform the train to Sorrento departs from.

The Circumvesuviana train is a commuter train, so it gets hot, crowded and makes many stops. This is the only indirect and least convenient transfer option from Naples Airport to Sorrento. If you have a little extra room in your budget, we highly recommend taking the bus or a taxi.
