Set rates
If you’re traveling from one of Naples’ many transportation hubs, such as Naples Airport, the Central Bus Station, and Naples Harbour, your journey could qualify for a set fare. For example, many of the big hotels in Naples are located on or around Via Partenope. The set rate from the airport to Via Partenope is €25.00. So if you are staying within the city center, it’s likely that your journey would qualify for a set fare.
Here is a non-exhaustive list of some set Naples taxi prices you may find useful:
Airport to Stazione Centrale (Central Station) – €18
Airport to Monte Sant’Angelo University – €25
Airport to ZTL Centro Antico (Historic Centre) – €18
Central Station to Via Partenope/Alberghi (San Ferdinando) – €15
Central Station to Molo Beverello/Porto/Piazza Municipio – €13
Central Station to San Martino Museum – €16
Harbor to Naples Business District – €13
Harbor to San Carlo Opera House – €9
Harbor to the Hippodrome – €17
There are also set fares for intercity journeys. Here are some examples:
Naples to Amalfi – €130
Naples to Pompeii (round trip with a stopover of 2 hours) – €90
Positano – €120
Rome – €350
Sorrento – €100
Ask your driver if your journey qualifies for a set fare or consult the Taxi Napoli website for the latest prices.
The best way to secure a competitive, low fare is to pre-book a taxi or airport taxi with Welcome Pickups.

How to get a Naples taxi
The easiest way to get a taxi is to hail one on the street. When the taxi sign on top of the car is illuminated, that means it’s available. Hold out your hand and the taxi will stop in a safe place. Alternatively, you can walk to one of the 100 taxi stands located around the city. The main hotspots for taxi ranks are outside of the train station, airport, bus station, ports, Molo Beverello, Mergellina, and other tourist locales.
It’s also possible to call a taxi number or order online via a taxi Naples app (which we’ll cover in the next two sections).
How to get a taxi from Naples Airport
If you need an airport taxi, the taxi rank is located immediately outside of the Arrivals Hall, when you leave from the main exit. Queue up until you reach the front of the line or you can call a radio taxi number. Note that most of the journeys leaving the airport have set rates. If your trip is metered, there will be an extra €5 added to your fare as an airport toll. Generally, you can expect to pay €25 to get from Naples Airport to the city center.
How to get a taxi from Napoli Centrale Train Station
Taxis are lined up below the steps of Napoli Centrale Train Station. There are set fares available for journeys from the train station so ensure your driver maintains this. During peak times, it may be best to book a taxi in advance as the taxi queue can be long.
How to get a taxi from Naples Bus Station
Naples Central Bus Station is located by Piazza Garibaldi. If you walk towards the Piazza, you’ll see a large queue of taxis waiting.
How to get a taxi from the National Museum
The best way to get a taxi from the National Museum is to call a taxi or ask a member of staff to call one for you. Though there are taxis on the street around the building, it can be tricky to flag one down from here. Remember that there are set fares from the National Museum to places like the airport, train station, and hotel district (Via Partenope).
How to get a taxi from Via Partenope
Via Partenope is a coastal avenue in Naples that hosts many of the large hotels. The main Naples taxi service, Taxi Napoli, offers a range of set fares from this street. The easiest way to get a taxi from here is to either ask your hotel front desk to call one for you or hail a taxi from the street. Given the popularity of the location, it’s quite easy to find taxis roaming around.
Most popular Naples taxi apps
Taxi Napoli has its own app which connects you to official Naples taxis. Alternatively, popular taxi Naples apps include Uber and appTAXI. However, Uber does not operate the way you may be used to. There are no amateur drivers with private cars. Instead, Uber is a negotiated service with the official taxi service. Therefore, although prices seem lower, there are often extra charges added at the end of the taxi ride as many tourists have noted.
If you’d rather have a professional service at a fixed price with no hidden fees, Welcome Pickups could be a great solution for you.
Useful Naples taxi numbers
The main taxi service in Naples, Italy, is Taxi Napoli. You can reach them on +39 081 8888. Consortaxi (+39 0815527308) is another good choice. As they have a large fleet of cars, there shouldn’t be too long of a wait during off-peak hours. However, during peak times, you may be subject to a long wait or they may be unable to fulfill your request.
This is why we recommend booking a private taxi in advance to avoid disappointment.
Benefits of booking a Naples taxi in advance
Naples is a very taxi-friendly city with multiple taxi ranks and drivers around at all times. However, it can be tricky to communicate with a driver who only speaks Italian or one who disputes the existence of the set fare scheme from the airport.
To take away the stress of negotiating with drivers and language barriers, you can book a private taxi from a top-rated, international company like Welcome Pickups. That way, you’re guaranteed a bespoke, professional service with a local English-speaking driver at a fixed price.
Naples taxi tips
- If your journey qualifies for one of the set Naples taxi rates, ask your driver to see a rate card to avoid overcharging.
- Credit card machines are widely available in Naples taxis but it’s worth asking your driver before your ride begins in case theirs is out of order.
- If your taxi ride is metered, ensure that your driver resets the meter before you set off.
- Some Naples taxi drivers speak English but not all. We recommend writing down the address of your destination to help aid communication.

- To avoid waiting on an available taxi, you can pre-book a taxi with Welcome Pickups.
Wheelchair-accessible taxis in Naples
Naples on the whole is not an easy destination for travelers with mobility issues. Cobbled streets, heavy traffic, and narrow pavements make life difficult for wheelchair users. Some efforts are made by local authorities to increase accessibility but current conditions leave a lot to be desired. To book a wheelchair-friendly taxi in Naples, contact Taxi Arena by phone at +39 (0823) 322400 or contact Taxi Napoli at +39 (081) 8888.
With Taxi Napoli, guide dogs and any mobility equipment ride for free.
Naples taxi safety and complaints
Though all Naples taxis are required to have a taximeter, there are sadly many drivers that don’t respect that rule. If you feel you have been scammed or overcharged, note down the driver’s license number, which you’ll find on the car doors, politely ask for a receipt, and contact the local transport authority at [email protected]. If you’d rather speak to the police, the best number is +39 (081) 7513177. The emergency police number is 113.
