The city of Plovdiv is Bulgaria’s second-largest city, dating back more than 6,000 years. Located on the Maritsa River, the town’s surrounding mountains, Old Town walls and colourful houses – that are as distinctly beautiful on the inside as they are on the outside – make this one of the most charming places to visit in Europe. You’ll also find some of the best examples of Roman architecture with the famous Ancient Roman Theatre of Philippopolis where you can take in some of the best views of the city.
When arriving at Plovdiv Airport – also known as Krumovo Airport – the main modes of transport to reach the city centre are taxi, private transfer, or the bus. Taxis or private transfers are the quickest options, taking 22 minutes during light traffic, and are also quite affordable, especially if you’re travelling in a group. The bus option is a shared shuttle that takes around 25 minutes, excluding wait times, and departs 30 minutes after each flight arrival.
Welcome Pickups offers meet and greet services and a friendly introduction to Plovdiv at the same price as a regular taxi. Click here to see the cost.
