How to get from Punta Cana International Airport to La Romana

There’s no direct bus transfer from Punta Cana airport to La Romana. Unfortunately, you’ll have to make two changes and take three different buses to get to La Romana from the airport. First, you will take a local Guagua bus from Punta Cana airport to Cruce de Verón, then you will take another Guagua bus from there to Bavaro Bus Terminal. The final bus is the Bavaro Express from Bavaro Bus Terminal to La Romana. The total journey time is around 2 hours and 20 minutes.

The cost of the local Guagua buses are €1 (60 DOP) each and the cost of the Bavaro Express bus is €4 (200 DOP). So, the total cost for the buses from Punta Cana airport to La Romana is €6 (380 DOP).

Taking the bus is an extremely inconvenient transfer from Punta Cana airport to La Romana. You will need to make multiple transfers, there’s little to no space for large suitcases and the bus from Bavaro to La Romana only leaves 6 times a day until 16:00. If you land in the late afternoon, or if you have small children or large luggage items, taking the bus from Punta Cana airport to La Romana isn’t an option.
