How to get from Don Mueang airport to Bangkok by bus

There are 2 different bus lines that run from Don Mueang (DMK) airport to Bangkok; the A1 and the Airport Limo Express bus. The cheapest and most convenient bus line is the A1, which leaves the airport every 5 minutes, takes 20 minutes to reach Mo Chit bus station. The Airport Limo Express Bus is a much more modern and comfortable bus, however, it takes 1 hour to reach Khao San station. It is important to know that you will need to take a connecting transportation method at both Mo Chit and Khao San bus stations; either the BTS Skytrain or the MRT subway in order to reach the city centre of Bangkok.

How much is a bus ticket from Don Mueang airport to Bangkok?

The cheapest option is to take the A1 bus as a one-way only costs €0.85 (30 Baht), no matter where you choose to stop. You can purchase your ticket directly from the bus driver, but be sure to have small coins on you as the driver doesn’t normally carry change.

The Airport Limo Express bus is a little more expensive costing €4.30 (150 Baht) to get to Khao San station. You can book online in advance at a small fee or you can buy your tickets on the day at the airport booking desk between gates 6 and 8 in Terminal 1 and at gate 14 in Terminal 2.

Both the A1 bus and the Airport Limo Express bus can be found outside Don Mueang (DMK) airport’s Terminal 1 at exit 6. As you step out the door you will see a sign saying ‘BMTA Bus’. Follow this sign and you will see the orange A1 bus and the white Airport Limo Express bus in front of you.

Although the A1 bus leaves every 5 minutes and only takes 20 minutes to reach Mo Chit bus station, you will then need to take a connecting transportation method to reach Bangkok’s city centre. Not only does this add on an extra cost to your journey, it also adds on time, and you will need to navigate in the Thai public transportation system.
