Avalon Airport is located just 23 km from Geelong in Victoria, Australia, providing an alternative arrival point to Melbourne Airport for those wishing to explore cities beyond Victoria’s capital city. Geelong offers a huge stretch of waterfront for visitors to explore, including the Wangim Walk, a nearly 500 m long on-water walkway, private picnic boats, and a fantastic urban precinct with countless cafes, eateries and breweries to discover.
There are three recommended transport options from Avalon Airport to Geelong; an airport taxi or private transfer, the MyBus shuttle bus, or a combined SkyBus and train journey. A taxi is the most direct and easiest transport option and will get you to your destination in as little as 25 minutes; if you’re travelling with two or more people, it is also the cheapest option with a cost of €27 (AUD 45), for up to 4 passengers. If you’re travelling solo, an affordable alternative is to take the MyBus airport service that will drop you straight to your door, however, depending on how many passengers are on board, this service can take nearly twice as long, compared to a private ride. Alternatively, if you’re on a tight budget and are not restricted by time, you can first take the Avalon City SkyBus service to Southern Cross Station and then change to a train on the V/Line service to Geelong. This journey only costs €21 (AUD 35) per person, but it does take nearly two and a half hours.
Welcome Pickups offers meet and greet services and a friendly introduction to Melbourne at the same price as a regular taxi. Click here to see the cost.
