Useful tips for getting a taxi from Faro Airport
- Faro Airport taxis calculate fares using a taximeter based on the distance travelled, time of day, trip duration, tolls and more. Tariff 1 is for daytime rides, and Tariff 2 is for rides between 21:00 and 06:00.
- There’s a surcharge of €0.80 for booking a taxi via telephone.
- Make sure the taximeter is set to “Tariff 3” when transferring to destinations outside of Faro city such as Vilamoura, Lagos, and Albufeira.
- Make sure your driver resets the taximeter before you start your journey.
- Never accept rides from unlicensed drivers offering rides in the airport terminal.
- Pre-booking a Faro Airport taxi guarantees you a meet and greet, no waiting times, advance payments, reliable English-speaking drivers, and 24/7 customer support.
- Tipping is not expected in Portugal, however, you can round up the fare if you really liked the service.
- Some taxis at Faro Airport accept card payments, however, most do not. It’s best to carry some cash in the local currency just in case (€). We also recommend carrying smaller notes and coins with you as most drivers don’t carry change for notes larger than €20.
- Some taxi drivers may speak English, but this is never guaranteed. We recommend jotting down the address of your hotel or accommodation to avoid any miscommunication.
- If you think you have been scammed or overcharged, simply note down the taxi driver’s name, ID number and the number of your taxi. You can then contact the taxi company or the local police to file a complaint.
